After holding webinars for two years, CSM finally held its first face-to-face training workshop entitled “Restart Your Children’s Ministry: How to do Sunday School in the New Normal.” A total of 154 participants representing 32 churches from around Metro Manila and nearby provinces (Cavite, Rizal, and Laguna) attended the workshop last March 26, 2022 at the CSM Building in Parañaque City.

The fun-filled training workshop allowed participants to personally interact with the speakers and excitedly join the icebreaker and storytelling activities.

Speaker and counselor Pastor Archie Dela Cruz discussed about how to manage the transitory behaviors of children in the new normal. He shared, “Disruption such as the pandemic has caused undue stress to our kids, as it has radically changed the way they do their daily routines, their studying, and even the way they relate to their families at home. So it is up to all of us to help children adapt, and now that the world is changing again, we must learn to understand and empathize with what they are going through so they can successfully overcome whatever challenges we are all facing right now.”

Afterwards, speaker and CSM certified trainer Ms. Raquel Lomugdang shared tips on how to restart Sunday school. She emphasized and encouraged teachers to be flexible and to always consider their church’s context when making decisions. Ms. Raquel also taught different ways of using arts and crafts in teaching Bible lessons and she urged teachers to be resourceful by using recyclable materials. She also shared creative ways of telling Bible stories using puppets, pictures, role playing, and many more Participants were also given the chance to do a short storytelling demo after her discussion.
