Cats and dogs that roam the University of the Philippines in Diliman have Journalism Professor Khrysta Rara for their advocate. She owes her dedication to the cause of caring for animals on campus to a stray cat named Kitkat. Her story of how she founded Friends of Campus Animals or FOCA in the state university is in CSM’s newly launched book of devotions for cat people, And God Also Made a Cat.

Professor Rara received copies of And God Also Made a Cat and So God Made a Dog from CSM VP for Publishing Joy Solina last October 17, 2019. Rara teaches journalism at the College of Mass Communication. So God Made a Dog is an international reprint while And God Also Made a Cat is written by another UP professor now retired and based in Baguio, Victoria Rico Costina. Find more stories of university professors who care for Pinoy cats in And God Also Made a Cat now available at a Christian bookstore near you or order online at CSM’s Facebook page.

During Solina’s visit at the faculty lounge of the College of Mass Communication, Rara shared heartwarming stories of campus dogs in other colleges. Solina went to Quezon Hall immediately after to catch campus dogs Cotton, Brownie, and Tisay. The bonus for that special afternoon was meeting Fyt, a Dutch Shepherd owned by the Vice Chancellor for Community Affairs. Dog lovers can also read about dogs that have impacted their owners’ and others’ lives in So God Made a Dog also available in Christian bookstores or online at the CSM Facebook page.
